The water purification system that allows the recycling of rain water, seawater, and other unpurified forms of water.
Water is an essential element of human life, making up 65% of the body. Clean water is essential in protecting people from diseases and preventing the spread of contagious outbreaks. However, only half the people in the world have access to clean water, and 17% of people (1.2 billion people)are denied access to wells and water tanks that supply filtered, regulated water. 2/3 of them (800 million people) live in various parts of Asia. Yamaha encounters such dire situations in their sales and Service activities around the world. In an effort to aid such people, Yamaha has developed the Total Ecological Purification System. It is currently being monitored in Southeast Asia.
The Yamaha Total Ecological Purification System employs the slow sand filtration method. As opposed to rapid filtrations systems that employ chemical products, slow sand filtration involves the purification of water by processing the water through layers of sand. The water moves through 3-6 meters of sand per day, and through natural bacterial and precipitation processes, the water is purified. The simple structure and cheap running costs together with easier maintenance compared with rapid filtration systems makes slow sand filtration the ideal water purification system for small communities and villages. |
