Our Realistic Paper Craft replica of the YZF-R1 started to reveal its full from, with added details and curves. In this second production update, we'll show you the "prototype" model, which is further worked up from the rough mock-up called the "solid model."
In the last update, we showed you a "solid model," which is a 3-dimensional paper model roughly duplicating the overall proportions of the model. Add details to a "solid model," such as the balance and shaping of individual parts, and you get an almost-perfectly shaped "prototype" model. At this stage of the production, the flowing curves that characterize the R1 can clearly be seen.
This "prototype" model also serves as a template for the coloring stage. First, individual parts are made from paper. Here we pay special attention to the parts' connecting surfaces so that they can be assembled. Next, we'll move on to the "coloring stage." We'll show you the colored parts of the R1 in the next update.
