Here we introduce the 2005 YBR125 Chomolungma - Urumqi Touring Raid
A team of Chinese riders is set to begin an adventure of encounter with nature over vast tracks of western China, starting from Lhasa, Tibet, on May 22, 2005.
The team is made up of motorcyclists who want to ride under the wide-open blue skies, to find out the true potential of motorcycles, to meet local people and to test themselves when they come face-to-face with the great forces of nature. The machine they will ride is the Yamaha YBR125 and their route is an ambitious touring raid that will take them over mountain passes at elevations up to 5,231 m and down to 300 m below sea level. Their course will be run over 13 days and cover 2,500 km.
On this site we will bring you on-location reports of the raid's progress so you can share in the joys and trials of the riders' experiences as they make their way under blue skies, over treacherous terrain and past traces of ancient cultures.
